Ahmad Nivins Named Big 5 Co-Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior Ahmad Nivins has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for January 19, sharing the award with Temple's Dionte Christmas. It marks the third time this season that he has earned the city honor.

Nivins averaged 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the Hawks' 2-0 week as they extended their winning streak to four games. Nivins had 16 points and13 rebounds as the Hawks won at St. Bonaventure. He followed that with 25 points and 10 rebounds as SJU defeated Charlotte. Against Charlotte, Nivins shot 6-for-9 from the field and went 13-for-15 from the foul line, going 13-for-13 in the second half.

The 6-9 senior from Jersey City, N.J. is averaging 19.6 points and 11.0 rebounds on the season for the 9-7 Hawks. He has nine double-doubles on the year, the best number in the Atlantic 10.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Wednesday, January 21 when it hosts Duquesne at 7 p.m. at The Palestra.
