Nelson and Hawks' NCAA Game Nominated for ESPYS; Fan Voting Ends Friday

BRISTOL, Conn. (7/7/04) - Jameer Nelson and the Saint Joseph's vs. Oklahoma State game in the NCAA Regional Final are among the nominees for the 12th annual ESPY Awards. The awards will be voted on by fans for the first time, and can be done by going to through Friday, July 9.

Nelson, the consensus National Player of the Year, is nominated as the Best Male College Athlete. Joining him in that category are Pittsburgh football player Larry Fitzgerald, Connecticut basketball player Emeka Okafor and Oklahoma football player Jason White.

The SJU-Oklahoma State contest, is nominated as the year's "Best Game", along with the Red Sox-Yankees Game 7 in the American League Championship, the Super Bowl (Patriots vs. Panthers) and the Little League World Series Semifinal between Saugus (Mass.) and Richmond (Texas).

The 2004 ESPY Awards, hosted by Jamie Foxx, will be televised from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on Sunday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET. The ESPY Awards gather sports and entertainment celebrities to recognize top achievements, relive memorable moments and salute the best performers.
