ST. THOMAS, VIRGIN ISLANDS - The Saint Joseph's men's basketball team fell to No. 7 Purdue, 85-60, in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam Tournament Sunday evening. The Hawks, who trailed just 31-30 at halftime, were outscored 54-30 in the second stanza and are now 3-1 on the season. SJU will face DePaul in the consolation game at 6 p.m. EST (7 p.m. Atlantic) on Monday night.

Senior guard Garrett Williamson scored a team-high 12 points for the Hawks.

SJU got off to another good start and jumped out to an 18-9 lead on Purdue. The Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and made 5-of-7 3-pointers. But the Boilermakers turned up the defensive pressure and held Saint Joseph's without a field goal for four minutes en route to taking a 27-26 lead with 3:27 to play. Purdue would head into intermission with a 31-30 lead.

Purdue started the second half with an 11-0 run and then outscored the Hawks, 23-2, in the first eight minutes, thus creating a 20-point deficit for Saint Joseph's (54-34). The Hawks would trim the margin to 14 points, but Purdue hit three consecutive 3-pointers to put the game out of reach.

Saint Joseph's had a season-high 23 turnovers and saw Purdue scored 32 points off those giveaways.
