Braun Blanks Dukes to Make Hawks Winners in Season Finale

PITTSBURGH, PA - Fifth-year senior Al Braun threw a complete game shutout to lead Saint Joseph's (14-38, 8-16 A-10) to a 7-0 victory over Duquesne (20-32, 13-11 A-10) in the team's regular season finale at Duquesne Field. Sophomore Adriano Petrutz was 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Hawks.

Braun (2-1) made his first start of the season and pitched the complete game, scattering eight Duke hits while striking out four to pick up the victory and post his first career shutout.

The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Petrutz singled to open the frame and stole second. A single by Matt Godusky then put runners at the corners. Junior Dustin Onulak, who had three hits on th eafternoon, delivered a RBI single. Godusky then scored on a passed ball.

SJU added a run in the fourth and then broke the game open with a four run seventh inning.
