NORRISTOWN, PA (05/03/01) - A six-run first inning outburst carried Villanova (22-25-1) to a 13-5 victory over St. Joseph's (20-21-1) in the 100th meeting between the two schools. The teams combined for 30 hits, including 17 by the Hawks. Kevin Kirkby smacked a pair of hits for the Hawks and became the all-time hit leader in school with 253 hits. The Hawks will head into the season's home stretch this weekend, as the team travels to Pittsburgh for a three-game series against Duquesne. SJU then visits UMass in a midweek battle, before wrapping up the season against Rhode Island the following weekend.
