NORRISTOWN, PA (3/23/04) - Erupting for eight runs in the seventh inning, Villanova (13-5) broke ope and tight game and coasted past Saint Joseph's (4-19), 14-3, at Elmwood Park's Latshaw-McCarthy Field. Sophomore Dustin Onulak was 3-4 for the Hawks.

Jason Volker started the game on a pitch count and tossed three innings of scoreless one-hit ball and left the game with the lead. SJU had jumped on top 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI single by Brian Schappert.

The Wildcats clawed back and went on top with four runs in the fourth inning thanks in part to back-to-back solo home runs.

Villanova threatened again in the fifth loading the bases, but were held to just one run as Joe Mucci came out of the bullpen to get the Hawks out of a bases loaded jam.

VU broke the game open with eight runs in the seventh and added another run in the eighth. The game was called after eight innings do to darkness.

Joel Grimshaw (0-1) suffered the loss allowing six hits and five runs in one inning of work. Kevin Mulvey (2-2) got the win for the Wildcats.
