PHILADELPHIA - In voting conducted by the head coaches and sports information offices of Philadelphia's five Division I baseball-playing institutions, Saint Joseph's senior outfielder Jeremy Jakubowski and sophomore pitcher Randy Mower were selected to the 2008 All-Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball team. Sophomore lefthander Quentin Farr was named to the All-Big 5 Academic Team as well.

Jakubowski hit .337 this season to lead the Hawk regulars. He also led the club with 56 hits, 36 runs scored, four home runs, and 22 walks while ranking second with 31 runs batted in. He leaves Saint Joseph's with a .296 career batting average, having hit over .330 the past two seasons. His 184 hits tie him for 10th all-time in program history, his 10 triples put him in a tie for fifth in SJU history, and his 46 stolen bases are good for a fourth-place tie on the Hawks' all-time list.

Mower led all nominees in victories this season, posting a 7-5 record with a 4.45 earned run average. He made 16 appearances this season, all starts. Mower notched two complete games in 2008, including a 3-0 shutout of crosstown rival Temple on March 29. He was also the starting pitcher in SJU's no-hitter over Saint Peter's, a game the Hawks won, 11-0. It was the first no-hitter for Saint Joseph's since 1970, and the sixth in program history.

Farr was named All-Academic after appearing in 15 games. He was 0-0 with a 4.50 earned run average, and struck out 17 hitters in 18 innings in 2008.

The Hawks finished 18-34 this season, marking their highest win total since 2001.
