PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior Pat Carroll has been named to the USBWA All-District 1 Team, as voted on by the United States Basketball Writers of America.
Carroll was joined on the team by Josh Boone (Connecticut), Mardy Collins (Temple), Taylor Coppenrath (Vermont), Jared Dudley (Boston College), Rashuan Freeman (Massachusetts), Ryan Gomes (Providence), Carl Krauser (Pittsburgh), Allan Ray (Villanova), Craig Smith (Boston College), Curtis Sumpter (Villanova), and Chevon Troutman (Pittsburgh). Gomes was named the Player of the Year and Al Skiiner of Boston College was selected as the Coach of the Year.
The Hawks' senior is the Co-Player of the Year in the Atlantic 10 and a first team All-Conference selection. Carroll, from Horsham, PA, led the Atlantic 10 in scoring in conference games (19.5 ppg) and ranked third in the league in scoring in overall games (17.3). Slowed by a dislocated shoulder in the early part of the season, Carroll came on strong after the New Year, averaging 20.3 points per game and shooting 49.3 percent from 3-point range in the last 16 games. He leads the A-10 in 3-point percentage at 45.4 and 51.4 percent in conference games. Carroll is the only player in Atlantic 10 history to lead the league in 3-point shooting for three consecutive years. The 6-5 senior owns Saint Joseph's career records for 3-point percentage (45.4) and 3-pointers made (258) and has tied the single-season mark with 99.
Carroll was also named to the All-District team as chosen by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
