OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Dane Watts scored eight of his career-high 29 points in overtime to lead Creighton past Saint Joseph's 90-84 on Sunday at Qwest Center Omaha.
Creighton (6-1) overcame a four-point deficit in the final minute of regulation to force overtime. Watts hit two free throws with 14 seconds left to tie the game at 70-70.
Pat Calathes had a chance to win it at the buzzer for Saint Joseph's (4-4), but his 3-point shot bounced off the rim.
Pierce Hibma added a career-high 17 points for the Bluejays, while Nick Bahe had 14 and Chad Millard 13.
Creighton led by as many as eight points in the first half, and the Hawks had a five-point lead twice. Govens had all of his points in the first half that ended with Saint Joseph's leading 35-34.
After falling behind by five early in the second half, Saint Joseph's moved in front with a 15-5 run.
Creighton battled back to go up by three midway through the second half before the Hawks pulled ahead.
Then the Bluejays tied up the game and took control in overtime. Creighton scored nine of the first 11 points in the extra period.
Millard's 3-pointer with 3:10 left in overtime put the Bluejays up 79-72.
Saint Joseph's twice closed within four, but Creighton went 17-of-20 from the free throw line in overtime.
