PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's juniors Matt Godusky and Jeff Williams have been named the first-ever Philadelphia Diamond Five Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in voting conducted by the five area head coaches. Godusky batted .550 with five RBI while Williams went 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA as the Hawks competed at the Rollins College Baseball Week in Winter Park, Fla.
Godusky had at least one hit in all six games and opened the week with a 2-for-4, three RBI performance in a 6-2 upset win over Boston College. He also went 3-for-4 against Sacred Heart and was 2-for-2 against host Rollins.
Williams earned the win in SJU's victory over BC. He pitched seven innings and allowed just one earned run while striking out four. The right-hander suffered the loss against Rollins despite giving up two runs in six innings pitched.
Formed with the mission of increasing the exposure of college baseball in the area, the Diamond Five is comprised of the five Division I niversities in Philadelphia that sponsor baseball. The Diamond Five will announce a Player and Pitcher of the Week every Tuesday. The first-ever All-Diamond Five team will be announced at the conclusion of the season.
