PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's sophomore Randy Mower was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Mower, 3-2 on the season, pitched in two games this week, allowing just six hits and no runs in 11 innings. On Tuesday, he worked the first two innings of SJU's Liberty Bell Classic loss to Delaware, ceding three hits and striking out two.
He dazzled on Saturday afternoon, holding the potent Temple offense to just three hits in a 3-0 complete game shutout victory over the Owls. He walked just one hitter while striking out six in the first complete game shutout for a Saint Joseph's hurler since May 20, 2005. It was Mower's second complete game of the season, as he previously defeated Seton Hall, 5-2, on March 11.
Mower shared the award with Chris Pickering of Rhode Island.
Saint Joseph's will return to baseball action on Tuesday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. game at Penn. The two teams will meet up again on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 as well.
