Baseball Inks Three to National Letters of Intent

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's head coach Shawn Pender has announced the signing of three student-athletes, Matthew Barnathan, Patrick Monaghan and Randall Mower, to National Letters of Intent for the 2006-07 season.

Barnathan, a native of Massapequa, N.Y. is a two-sport standout in football and baseball at St. Anthony's High School on Long Island. The 5-10 lefthanded hitting outfielder batted .350.

Also a two-sport standout in both baseball and football, Monaghan ranks as one of the top hurlers in South Jersey. The Voorhees, N.J. native and Eastern High School product was named All-Group 4 Second Team last spring after setting team records with 61 innings pitched and eight victories. He registered a 1.70 ERA.

Mower, a 6-2 lefthanded pitcher from Hatfield, Pa., helped to guide North Penn High School to the 2005 PIAA AAAA State Baseball tournament.
