PHILADELPHIA - Phil Martelli and the head coaches of the city's six men's basketball programs will participate in the 10th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Jim Maloney Golf Classic to benefit the American Cancer Society. Foursomes and individual spots are still available for the event on September 26 at Huntingdon Valley Country Club.
The schedule for the day is lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a noon shotgun start. The cocktail reception and dinner begins at 5:30 p.m.
Foursomes can be purchased for $2,000, which includes all of the day's activities plus a tee sign. Tee sponsorships are available for $300 while tickets for the reception and dinner only are $100.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting the basketball offices at any of the six schools, or by calling the American Cancer Society at 215-985-5400.
Martelli and Pennsylvania coach Fran Dunphy are the co-chairs for the outing, which is just one of the few Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer events each year. The city's six coaches have joined together to increase awareness and resources to fight the disease. The Philadelphia group is one of the highest fund-raising groups in the nation.
The golf classic honors the memory of former Temple assistant coach Jim Maloney.
