PHILADELPHIA (6/05/03) - Saint Joseph's University baseball standout Mike DeLorenzo has been named to the 2003 Atlantic 10 Baseball Academic All-Conference Team. It marks the fifth straight season that a Hawk has been honored by the league. A fifth-year senior, DeLorenzo, who is pursuing his master's degree in business administration, boasts a 3.59 GPA. A two-time winner of the SJU baseball scholar-athlete award, he was earlier named to the Verizon Academic All-District 2 Second Team. DeLorenzo hit .286 this season average and finished second on the team in home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.500). He is joined on the baseball Academic All-Conference team by Tom Beechem of Dayton; Tim Boyle of Fordham; Richmond's Vito Chiaravalloti, who was recently selected in the 15th round of the Major League Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays; George Washington's Tony Dokoupil; Brian Frey, John Rieg, and Sean Wilson of Duquesne; Rhode Island's Justin Lamboy and Jared Trout; and Greg Wiggers of Xavier.
