PHILADELPHIA - Guardians of the Game: A Legacy of Leadership profiles the game's greatest coaches and highlights their incredible impact on college basketball. Saint Joseph's University basketball coach Phil Martelli is one such Guardian of the Game, and will be signing books on February 23rd from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the Saint Joseph's University Bookstore.

Many so-called experts in the business of college basketball will tell you that high school coaches struggle with the transition to coaching college basketball. Phil Martelli was not one of those. He experienced success at every level of playing and coaching and used those lessons wisely, building his career.

Using the history of the National Association of Basketball Coaches as the backbone, Guardians of the Game: A Legacy of Leadership chronicles the development of college basketball using the words and deeds of those who have lived the experience - the coaches, players, sportswriters and executives.

The book also includes a dynamic historical audio CD with key moments and conversations from the game's top coaches, both past and present. The book hit retail shelves October 10 and is available for purchase through bookstores and other retailers as well as amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and ascendmediabooks.com.

Author Dr. James E. Krause is a life-long basketball fanatic, a 25-year member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and has coached basketball at all levels from middle school through NCAA Division I.
