KANSAS CITY, MO - Saint Joseph's sophomore Ahmad Nivins has been named to the NABC All-District 3 First Team as selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He is now among 150 players eligible for All-America honors at the end of the season.
The 6-9 center from Jersey City, NJ, is the Hawks' leading scorer and rebounder with career-best averages of 16.2 points and 7.4 rebounds. He ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with his field goal percentage of 62.7.
Nivins has tallied double figures in 22 of 28 games this sesason, with six games of 20 points or more. He's also had three double-doubles on the season, with his most recent being 18 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Temple.
The sophomore is also the Hawks' leader with 29 blocks per game.
