LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (04/10/01) - Rider (12-17) scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to break open a 4-4 tie and defeat St. Joseph's (10-15-1), 6-4, at Richard Daly Field. Kevin Kirkby had a pair of hits to pace SJU and Mike DeVincentis drove in two runs. The Hawks trailed the game 4-2 after seven, but rallied for two runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game. Justin Godusky started the rally with a single and then went to third on a double by Kirkby. A ground ball by DeVincentis scored Godusky moved Kirkby up a base. Kirkby then crossed home when Jim Reilly reached on an error by the third baseman. On the mound, Doug Sieger threw 7.1 solid innings and suffered the loss to fall to 1-2. John Kokol also tossed 0.2 innings in relief. At the plate, Eric Wyatt saw his 14-game winning streak come to an end, but walked three times and stole a pair of bases to tie Robbie Reed for second place on the team's all-time list with 47. SJU returns to the diamond on Thursday afternoon to host Delaware Valley College. The Hawks had been scheduled to face Gwynedd Mercy, but Gwynedd had prior league commitments. Bloomfield College travels to Norristown on Friday and Saturday for a pair of games.
