PHILADELPHIA - La Salle (20-24-2)rallied with four runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth inning to defeat Saint Joseph's (10-41) in non-league baseball action at Hank DeVincent Field, 12-10. Sophomore Ryan Stadanlick was 4-5 with three runs and two RBI and senior Jason Tarewicz went 3-5 with two runs and five RBI for SJU.
La Salle led 4-1 after two innings, but SJU scored twice in the third, four times in the fifth and twice in the sixth to build a 9-6 lead after six innings.
Jason Volker got the start for SJU and pitched into the seventh inning giving up seven runs on 14 hits. After allowing a lead-off single, Jeff Williams relieved and promptly surrendered a two-run home run to left. He would run into more trouble allowing two more runs that allowed the Explorers to go on top 10-9 before Joe Mucci came into get the final out.
The Hawks tied the game with a run in the top of the eighth, but La Salle tallied twice off Mucci in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good.
Besides Stadanlick and Tarewicz, freshman Brian Schappert was 2-3 with three runs and Adriano Petrutz went 2-5.
Mucci (0-6) suffered the loss
SJU wraps up the regular season with a three-game Atlantic 10 series at Rhode Island this weekend.
