PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior Ahmad Nivins has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for January 11, sharing the award with Derrick Brown of Xavier. It is league-leading fourth time this year that Nivins has earned the A-10's weekly honor. He was also named the Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season, sharing the honor with Dionte Christmas of Temple.
Nivins scored 28 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds on Jan. 10 as Saint Joseph's edged Rhode Island in triple overtime, 92-86, in the Hawks' lone contest of the week. The senior shot 9-of-15 from the field and added three blocks.
The effort marked his seventh double-double of the season, tops in the Conference. It is also the first time in his career that he's posted over 20 points and 20 rebounds in the same game.
Nivins leads the Hawks in scoring with 19.5 points per game and in rebounding with 10.9.
The Hawks (7-7; 1-0) travel to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, January 14.
