LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (04/18/02) - Scoring seven runs in the seventh inning, the Rider baseball team rallied from a 12-6 deficit to stun Saint Joseph's 14-12 at Richard Daley Field. Rider improved to 15-17 with the victory, while the Hawks dropped to 8-29-1. The Broncs plated seven runs on eight hits in the seventh inning to earn the win. A two-run triple by junior Carl Loadenthal was the biggest hit of the inning for RU. . Junior Casey Long hit an RBI single to tie the score at 12-12, and an RBI single by sophomore Scott Rich provided the game-winner. tacked on an insurance run in the eighth inning to provide the final margin of victory. SJU scored eight runs on seven hits in the sixth inning to take a 12-6 lead. Sophomore Joe Ambler pitched an inning and two-thirds of relief, earning his third win of the season, and sophomore James Hoey pitched the final inning and one-third for the save. The Hawks host Atlantic 10 East Leader St. Bonaventure in a critical three-game series this weekend. Thw teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Action both days begins at noon.
