DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Warren Williams had 17 points and four assists to lead Dayton to a 58-54 victory over Saint Joseph's on Wednesday.
Saint Joseph's (7-7, 4-1 Atlantic 10) started the second half with a 29-26 lead over Dayton (10-5, 3-1) and maintained a lead until the 7:58 mark when Norman Plummer scored a 3-pointer to put Dayton ahead 45-44. Saint Joseph's came back with a 3-pointer by Chet Stachitas to take the lead and kept it until Marques Bennett scored on a 3-pointer to put Dayton ahead 50-49 with 5:21 left to play.
Dayton kept the lead the rest of the way. With seven seconds remaining, Dwayne Lee hit a free-throw shot to cut the Flyers' lead to 56-54, but Plummer hit a layup with three seconds left to give Dayton its final margin of victory.
