Volunteer Coach
Alma Mater: Rutgers '16
Experience: 1 Year

Gil Swenson enters his second season as the volunteer assistant on the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse coaching staff for Spring 2018.

"We are excited to formally add Gil Swenson to our coaching staff," said head coach Taylor Wray. "Gil has a great lacrosse mind and he is eager, and his experience with coaching and developing players at the high school level will serve him well working with our team. Gil will work primarily at the defensive end of the field. He has shown tremendous ability to scout opponents and prepare our scout offense. His efforts will aid in building our scouting report and developing the game plan each week."

Swenson spent the past five years coaching at the high school level in New Jersey. In the last two years, at West Essex High School, Swenson helped coach seven players to All-Conference honors. He has also coached with various club teams, including Trilogy and Leading Edge.

"To have a fourth set of hands on deck to help with whatever needs to be done to help our team be successful is a huge a help, and in his short time with us, Gil has already proven to be a valuable asset to the program," added Wray.

Swenson graduated from Rutgers University in May 2016 with a degree in Sport Management. He was unable to play lacrosse in college due to multiple hip surgeries following his high school career.

Swenson is a native of Randolph, NJ.
