Women's Lacrosse Brings Five-Game Win Streak to La Salle

The Hawks will look for their program-record, sixth consecutive win this weekend as the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse squad is set to close the regular season at La Salle this Saturday, April 28. Opening draw control at McCarthy Stadium is set for 11:30 a.m. The Hawks are in the midst of a five-game winning streak while the Explorers just had a three-game winning streak snapped by Richmond on Sunday.

O'Sullivan Tabbed Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week

Saint Joseph's graduate student goalkeeper Liz O'Sullivan was selected the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. The honor marks the first of O'Sullivan's SJU career; she also earned Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week recognition while with the University of Notre Dame back in 2015.

Leading by three with 8:48 to play in regulation, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team ran away with five of the final six goals of the game to earn a 16-9 victory over George Mason in Atlantic 10 action on Sweeney Field on Sunday afternoon. With their fifth straight win, the Hawks improve to 10-6 overall (6-2 A-10) while the Patriots fall to 10-6 overall (4-4 A-10). Junior midfielder Rebecca Lane and freshman attacker Sam McGee powered SJU's offense with hat tricks while freshman attacker Stephanie Kelly (2g, 2a), sophomore midfielder Bridget Cerciello (2g, 2a), and junior attacker Francesca Donato (2g, 2a) contributed four points apiece.

Trailing by three at the halftime break, the Hawks' offense fired off six of the first seven goals of the second half while the defense stifled the Colonials to just two second-half scores and forced a key turnover with 33 seconds to play as the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse squad picked up an 11-10 win over George Washington in Atlantic 10 conference action at the GW Lacrosse Field on Friday afternoon.
